Plastics collected by volunteers from the beaches of the island and several households on Othoni participate in a pilot plastic recycling program.

Kalogerou is organising for July 2022 a seven-day open free workshop for kids and adults promoting plastic recycling, up cycling and will showcase techniques like collecting, separating, cleaning, shredding and mould injecting plastic to create new objects. Filament for 3D printing will also be created for 3D printing use. A specialised van with all relevant equipment will visit the island where participants will have the opportunity to watch,  learn and participate in  the whole procedure.

Kalogerou is a Precious Plastic Community Point
